Seaspec Marine Services enters new era of excellence with recent ISO Compliance Certification.

Gold Coast-based marine repair specialists, Seaspec Marine Services, have consolidated their reputation as one of Australia’s most trusted maritime trade and technical service experts with their newly awarded ISO Compliance Certification.

Following an intensive two-stage audit by Lloyd’s Register, a leading international provider of classification, compliance, and consultancy services to the marine and offshore industries, Seaspec Marine Services were commended on presenting well-developed integrated systems that adequately met the requirements of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018, which focus on the complete systems management of key criterion: quality management, occupational health and safety, and environment.

“Naturally, we’re very pleased with the outcome,” says Jack Philps, Managing Director of Seaspec. “Achieving ISO compliance was one of Seaspec’s overarching goals for 2018, and the whole team really worked together to ensure success across every aspect of our business. We were able to sign off on the audit in December, so it’s been a fantastic way to close 2018 and kickstart 2019.”

While Seaspec Marine Services have long been recognised as industry leaders when it comes to their technical expertise and customer service, Jack believes the ISO compliance will bring additional credibility to Seaspec’s professionalism, workmanship, and extensive suite of services. “Fundamentally,” explains Jack, “the certification underscores our commitment to our clients, and our accountability to do what we say we’re going to do – that is, excellence across every stage of a project, no matter how big, small, or complex.”

The ISO compliance is also indicative of Seaspec Marine Services’ superior systems-driven approach, with the audit findings recognising a mature business model demonstrating structured and well documented development and implementation, “providing a maturity far beyond their normal expectations”. The findings went on to identify complete compliance across all criteria, stating they were “further testament to the level of experience witnessed during the assessment and the commitment from all levels to establish a management system that is embellished throughout the organisation as a valuable framework for business activity and growth.”

When Jack established Seaspec Marine Services at the Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard (GCCM) in 2015, his vision was clear – to build and expand Seaspec’s portfolio of clients, while nurturing the long term relationships he had already built with domestic and international operators and maritime industry contractors. “The ISO compliance acts as a further feather in Seaspec’s cap in attracting new clients and retaining existing ones,” says Jack. “We feel our recognition in this area gives us an immediate edge over our competition, while demonstrating to our existing clients we’re continually raising the bar.”

Seaspec are looking forward to making even bigger waves this year, with several exciting new projects in the pipeline. “We’ve worked hard to ensure the right resources are at our disposal to deliver the quality services and solutions our clients expect when it comes to their most valuable assets,” says Jack. “From our trade and technical division, to our equipment and expertise, our resources are one hundred percent shipshape, supported by integrated systems that – we’re proud to say – earned the praise of our auditor.”
